AUG 12: Libbie’s Mother Passes

Eleanor Page Bacon, mother of Elizabeth “Libbie” Custer, dies on this date in 1854 in Monroe, Michigan, at the age of 40.

Eleanor Sophia Page married Judge Daniel Stanton Bacon on September 12, 1837, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

She gave birth to four children: Edward Augustus Bacon (1839-1848); Elizabeth Clift Bacon (1842-1933); Sophia Bacon (1845-1846); and Harriet Duane Bacon (1848-1849).
