DEC 10: Emanuel Custer is Born

Emanuel Henry Custer, George A. Custer’s father, is born on Dec. 10, 1806, in Cerryssoptown, Alleghany County, Maryland.

He married Matilda Viers on Aug. 7, 1828. She died on July 18, 1834. Custer next married Mrs. Israel R. Kirkpatrick (Maria Ward.) She gave birth to George Armstrong Custer on Dec. 5, 1839.
