SEPT 29: Go West, Youn Man

On Sept. 29, 1851, the phrase “Go West young man, go west,” first appears in an editorial written by Indiana newspaper editor John B.L. Soule in the Terre Haute Express. The saying is immortalized in the 1860s by author and newspaper editor Horace Greeley of The New York Tribune.
